Homeschool Wherever We Happen To Be :)
We began teaching Joshua at home from an early age and he was always a very eager learner. He learned to read well by age five and could be found devouring books at any and every free moment of the day, finishing the entire Bible at age seven.

In addition to his homeschool studies, Joshua began to study at the local Japanese public school as well upon arrival in Japan. As he had never been to any school before, it was quite an adjustment in such a new environment where he understood very little! But we are happy to say that he adapted quite well and graduated in March!

Self Teaching
Here, There and Everywhere
Joshua is a self motivated person and very curious to learn things.
He took some classes on guitar while in Brazil and today, he has taught himself bass, standing bass, drums and ukulele, besides studying piano. He is learning Japanese calligraphy and has been studying many languages just for fun (?): Korean, German, French, Italian and Chinese. In order to make his Chinese language a full experience, he recently started going to a Chinese home Bible study group. He is still a big reader and has become a hard worker as well.

Siblings Testimonials
Joshua is nice. He likes to make fun of me sometimes, but he is mostly a good kid. He really likes little kids, or rather they really like him because he is nice to them.
He got way godlier in the last year and a half and I'm way impressed with him.

Joshua is always super kind and he lets me get in his room sometimes. He carries me sometimes when I'm tired of walking.

I love Joshua. He plays with me sometimes.

Joshua just goes with the flow and doesn't complain. He also doesn't plan ahead, so he never cares if something goes against his plan, because he doesn't have any." ~Israel
"Joshua was nice to read us books before bed every night before he got a job. He plays good worship. And he is patient." ~Johann

THIS IS WHERE I'M AT WITH MY FUNDING:
HELP US MAKE HIS CELEBRATION SPECIAL
Joshua is a gift from the Lord to our home. It has been an honor to be given the responsibility to raise him and it gives our hearts great JOY to see his desire to go to Nagayo-cho with us, not as an MK but as a missionary.
He is still not sure what to do concerning further education, but as we prayed with him about the next step, the possibility of going to a Discipleship and Mission training school "fell into our laps". And it just so happened to be in Taiwan at the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Base, in Chinese and English. It is a five month program, being half the lecture phase, and half of practical mission overseas.
As parents, we believe this will be a valuable time of formal training for him to own his faith and calling and as we see his interest in taking up the challenge, our hearts rejoice for his heart's decision and all that God can and will do with, in and through him during this training. So we invite you to join us in making this happen, celebrating his graduation and the next step in the life of this young man of God!
